FL-41 Filter Lenses

FL-41 filter lenses were developed for use by people with extreme light sensitivity (photo-phobia), such as those suffering from migraine or severe traumatic brain injury.
FL-41 filters can also lead to significant improvements in the frequency and the strength of eyelid closure when wearing FL-41 filter lenses in cases of blepharospasm (eyelid spasm) cause by light sensitivity.
A study conducted in Birmingham in the 1990s showed that wearing FL-41 filter lenses resulted in a significant reduction in the frequency and severity of migraine attacks.
Concentrating the filtering effect on this restricted wavelength range prevents the eyes adapting to ambient light conditions. This means that when the glasses are taken off, particularly indoors, the eyes are considerably less dazzled than would be the case with normal sunglasses which dim the entire visible spectrum evenly.
